Wayne Carter's Philosophical Beliefs
"All Students Can Have Success"

Humility - is the attitude behind the
action of love. Humility is seen other people as more important than one
self. Showing love and kindness means putting that attitude in action.
According to USA Today, businesses hire
attitudes because they can teach an employee what they need to know.
Essentially you can't teach positive attitudes such as:
Listening
Caring
Smiling
Saying Thank You
I have grown up in a culture where endless possibilities offer minimal effort.

"Good is the enemy of great"
"Much of the answer to the question of
"good to great" lies in the discipline to do whatever it takes to
become the best within carefully selected arenas and then to seek continual
improvement. It's really that simple. And, it's really just that difficult. ~Jim
Collins.

Eleven Ways to Improve Your School:
Improve the people you have or get better people.
People, not programs are important. People are the problems and people are the solutions.
The most valuable gift principles can give teachers and teachers can give students - confidence
Great teachers determine what the kids are going to do next. In a poor teachers class, the kids determine what the teacher is going to do next.
Everyday we treat every student with dignity and respect. Act like it even if we don't mean it!! They wont know the difference.
Arguing with a student is like mud wrestling with a pig - you both get muddy, but only the pig likes it!! (now this is a classic)
you don't govern any ones life with rules, you govern with expectations. Great teachers don't have rules, they have expectations.
Great teachers never take it out on their students. Poor teachers stay up late to go to school in a bad mood.
All decisions should be based on our best people/students. "Thank you for getting quiet. Thank you for being on time. Thank you for being prepared." These are much better than giving attention to those who do not do as expected.
Poor teachers want revenge - they want kids leaving the office mad. Great teachers want prevention - They want kids leaving the office changed.
When you hire a new - teacher our goal is for school to become more like our new teacher, not for them to become more like your school - or you've hired the wrong person ~Todd Whitaker.

Educational improvement is not an annual event, but is rather one on going process that drives a daily work of people throughout the organization. Finally, the effectiveness of the organization is assessed on the basis of results, rather than intentions or activities...~Richard DuFour

"A teachers' job is not to teach kids. A teacher's job is to create meaningful, engaging work whereby kids learn the things we want them to learn." ~Phil Schechty
